On the weekend of the 24th / 25th of September the ROYAL SOUTHERN YC Hamble are holding their Hamble Classic’s event….usually this is attended soley by Yachts but looking to resurrect their long standing with the powerboat world the club has requested Classic Motor Boats owners to join in the celebration of the Hamble’s history of boat building and Motor cruising….
Two of the first craft invited are Tommy Sopwith’s 1961 Cowes Torquay winning boat “Thunderbolt” a 1961 Bruce Campbell Christina Mk6 and Jon Furley’s unique Levi designed Hazel Christine …which bears a striking minature resemblance to the racer Surfury….
The Royal Southern herewith extended an invitation to owners of Classic Motor Boats in the hope that you would consider bringing them to the event…..as representatives of an era in which the Hamble river and its boatyards played a major part in the world of Offshore Powerboat Racing in the UK. the number of berths available will be limited so please contact me in the first instance to register your interest. email me at [email protected]……Mike
