Venture Cup Prologue

We have received an open invitation for anyone with a classic boat to bring it along to the race pits of the Prologue Race which starts from Tower Bridge on the 8th of June and for any owner wishing to do so to accompany the participating craft to the Southend Pier start line.

This will be an ideal occassion for club members or anyone in the Medway, Essex or Kent area with a “Classic” boat and who is unable to attend the Classic Rally to show it off in front of the TV and Press from June the 5th onwards prior to the start and add “atmosphere to the occassion” Please in the first instance would you forward your details and boat type to Martin at [email protected] .

Also bear in mind that the one and only HTS fresh from restoration and sea trials will be there and is taking part in this “tester” for next years London -Monte Carlo race which by all accounts now has backing from the Yacht Club de Monaco…so by the looks of it it is all systems go for the staging of this unique race.

Have received an update from Nick re the progress on HTS..accompanied by pictures of the new engines and what beasts they are!…..

The 2 new engines, currently being built at the Perkins factory for HTS.. No paint yet. 1 will be fitted with a high capacity 2 1/2″ water pump piped to the engine bay, and cockpit with a change over valve as an additional safety feature ( hopefully NOT required ) in addition to the 3 electric and 1 manual bilge pump…..

VENTURE CUP UPDATE

It appears that the two historic entrants in the Cowes -Monte Carlo marathon have another golden oldie joining their ranks…a partially lifted embargo has allowed us to mention a competitor from the Channel Islands who is entering a Bubble Top Cigarette….the boat is currently undergoing a full refit and refurbish in Florida to be ready for next years spectacular…as they say stay tuned.
