Class 3 restorations

Stapley 18' Blast Off.

Owned by committee member David Walker  Blast Off is a well known class3 boat and won some high profile races, more information is sought by David re her history.

New stern required and rebuilding of the decking and cockpit nothing major and again a very strong cold moulded diagonal hull.

HTS 2

Designed by Mike Bellamy for transport magnet Ralf Hilton HTS 2 was raced along side HTS his Don Shead designed marathon winner, also powered by Sabres she raced in Class 2 and was famous for her Gulf Racing colours and logo's.

Now in the ownership of Roger Golding in Oxfordshire who has had her for 20 years and needing a lot of TLC after years under canvas with the rain causing timber problems to the decks and cabin structure, her saving grace is a very strong Souter built hull.

Foamflyer

Owned by H.Read the 26ft Watson built ragged chine Foamflyer finished 10th in the 69 Round Britain race, powered by 2 Evinrudes totalling 420hp. Mr Read will be remembered for his escapades in the little Ianthe in the 61 Cowes Torquay when they exchanged an Evening Standard with a Russian Trawler for petrol to enable them to finish the race.

The Watson ragged chine never got the recognition due in powerboat racing but went on to make its mark on countless G.L.Watson built lifeboats for the RNLI.

Now owned by Mike Lloyd, Alan Goodwin and Peter Myles.

A`Speranziella

Sonny Levi's 1963 Cowes Torquay winning cruiser has resurfaced in the ownership of Sebastian Stapleton and will undergo a second restoration to her original 63 specification including Ford Interceptors.

She was purchased from Adam Younger 7 years ago and suffered badly after being wrapped in polythene, sweating causing a myriad of rot problems.
The poor condition of A`Speranziella was not of Adam Younger's doing but down to poor storage by the previous owner before she came into his possession.
It will be remembered she was also restored in 87 and appeared at Cowes for the CTC.
Sebastian is adamant she will be restored to original spec with correct windows and screen.

Paper Tiger

Purchased of E.bay for £1500.00 Charles de Selincourt's Paper Tiger a 25ft Bertram, is to undergo restoration, the new owner has a lot of work to do as she has been outdoors for some years after being dry stored for 20, the result being, soft decks and a lot of fibreglass to repair and clean.

No longer in her trademark Yellow and white and with some rather strange additions for fishing she is engineless and will be repowered with a diesel.
